Current Projects

Enhancing Football Predictions with Advanced Data: Building upon my existing Premier League analysis, I'm currently developing a more sophisticated football prediction model. This project involves web scraping match previews for all Premier League matches over the last few years. By incorporating this textual data, I aim to integrate a language learning model to complement the existing match statistics and enhance the accuracy of my predictions. This will provide a richer, more nuanced understanding of the factors that influence match outcomes.

Future Projects

Fraud Detection Model: Building on my past experience in fraudulent trading detection at major investment banks, I've begun planning a more advanced model for identifying fraudulent transactions. I'm currently evaluating potential datasets for this project, exploring publicly available transaction data on platforms like Kaggle and considering other relevant sources. This project will involve exploring various anomaly detection techniques, classification algorithms, and potentially deep learning models. My goal is to push beyond traditional rule-based systems, creating a more adaptive and robust fraud detection solution that can identify fraudulent activities with greater accuracy and efficiency.

About Me

I’m a data analyst with over a decade of experience uncovering patterns and telling stories through data. My career has taken me across investment banks in New York, London, Sydney, and Munich, where I specialized in data engineering and analysis, mainly using kdb+. Along the way, I’ve sharpened my skills in SQL and Python, and built dashboards that turn complex datasets into useful insights.

With a degree in Theoretical Physics and a Master's in Business Analytics, I bring a strong analytical foundation to my work. I also like to complete certifications to ensure I’m constantly growing—such as a Google Cloud certification and a Nanodegree in Machine Learning from Udacity. I’m based in the Bay Area, California, and I’m really excited about the next chapter in my career. Outside of work, machine learning is a huge passion of mine, and I’m always excited to dive into the latest developments in the field. While I’ve used ML techniques in past projects, I’m eager to push the boundaries and explore new, cutting-edge approaches. I’m also really fascinated by quantum computing and its potential for the future.

Looking ahead, I want to dive deeper into AI analysis to complement my data analysis experience and make even more impactful contributions. I’ve worked with a variety of databases, including Python, SQL, kdb+, and MongoDB, and have experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Google Cloud to build scalable solutions.

Originally from Ireland, I love to cycle and have recently picked up running, with the SF Marathon in 2025 as my next big goal. At home, my wife and I stay busy with our two playful kittens, Tayto and Haku. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading fiction and keeping up with emerging technologies. I’ve also developed a real passion for cooking Thai dishes and experimenting with the recipes. I’m always up for learning something new, exploring, and connecting through data-driven storytelling!
